Session outline

In just 45 minutes, attendees learn a simple meditative technique developed by reknowned cardiologist Dr. Herbert Benson, the founder of Harvard's Mind-Body Institute.

It's a great meditation to know.

It is designed to switch the body's autonomic nervous system out of “fight or flight” and into “rest and digest”, by encouraging the body to release chemicals and brain signals that cause you to relax.

Practice this for just 10 minutes to feel the benefits, promote health and healing.

​The session is in three parts

1. We look at what stress is and how it effects us

2. Benson's technique is introduced and practiced

3. Best practice and when to use

The session includes:

>15 minute guided meditation

>Q&A

Learning outcomes

​Participants leave knowing:

  • an attention training exercise (meditation) to settle the body and mind

  • how we become stressed and its impact on the body

Delivery

This session is usually delivered virtually.  Depending on location, I can also deliver it on site, at your chosen venue.

When we feel stressed we often find it hard to think or communicate well.  When we know how to dial down our stress response, we can focus on the task at hand and engage with our colleagues, as well as examine what we can do to manage or reduce our stressors.

Perfect introduction to mindfulness

If you want to learn about mindfulness then this is a perfect introduction. The Taste of Mindfulness session was very well structured and helped me learn the truth about mindfulness. I particularly liked the exercise where we were asked to observe the mind whilst looking at an image on a slide - really helped you understand how your brain does its own thing! I also liked seeing everyone's comments in the chat when asked for our thoughts at different points during the session and Tracey's response as she read them out.
